Antimicrobial protection inhibits the growth of bacteria, mold, and mildew. A TORLYS floor with 24/7 antimicrobial protection has a whole new level of protection against microbes that may cause odors and flooring deterioration.

Antibacterial Technologies: effective against a broad spectrum of harmful bacteria including E. coli and MRSA.

Antimicrobial Technologies: minimize the presence of bacteria, mold, and fungi. In contrast to antibacterial agents, antimicrobial substances offer a greater level of product protection by continuously inhibiting the growth of microbes on surfaces for very long periods of time.

On the surface of the floor, antimicrobial protection is infused in TORLYS Maxx Finish to protect against a broad spectrum of bacteria 24/7. It will not wash off or wear away, keeping the floors 99% cleaner between cleanings.

In the middle, TORLYS Smart Core with Microban® offers protection against the growth of mold and mildew by inhibiting microbes from growing and reproducing.

Underneath the floor, the underlay (either TORLYS CorkPlus™ BLUE or TORLYS FoamPlus™ Blue) with Microban® is integrated with Microban® technology during the manufacturing process. This built-in defense actively reduces the growth of mold and odor causing bacteria for the lifetime of the floor.

No. TORLYS antimicrobial protection is offered in most TORLYS Smart Floors. Certain floors feature antimicrobial technology in the finish, core, and underlay, while others feature it in only one or two areas. Yes. Antimicrobial protection begins to work as soon as a microorganism comes into contact with the product surface.

Microban® antimicrobial additives are predominantly based on zinc and silver active ingredients.

Antimicrobial protection will inhibit the growth of most common bacteria, yeasts, molds, and fungi. It has even been proven effective against a broad spectrum of gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria.

Antimicrobial product protection will remain present in a TORLYS floor for its expected lifetime. The technology will not wash off or wear away.

Microban® treated products are tested for their efficacy in accordance with internationally recognized standards such as ISO 22196:2007, JIS Z 2801:2000, ISO 20743:2007, JIS L 1902:2002, AATCC TM100, AATCC TM30 Pt III. TORLYS regularly tests all treated components of the floor to ensure efficacy.

All antimicrobial additives used in TORLYS floors have undergone extensive independent laboratory testing and have a long history of safe use. For instance, the biocidal active components of Microban® antimicrobial additives are regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency as treated articles and are proven safe and effective for their specific end use applications.
